A testimonial dinner was held for legendary Cape Breton boxer Francis “Rocky” MacDougall. Rocky was the Canadian Featherweight Champion from 1965-1967 and 1969-1972.  Here’s a montage we edited together of some of his fights from that time.

Oct. 20, 2008 - Celtic Colours

Shot on Site had another busy year doing work for the 12th annual Celtic Colours International Festival.

One of the best things about being involved in the festival is the fact we get to take in alot of events which, intern, equals out to good times.  Shout out to all the staff and volunteers that make the festival happen, also Dave Corkum and his crew at Sound Systems Plus, cool bunch of dudes.

The short video below gives a climpse into the magic that happens latenight at the Festival Club.  The clip features Gordie Sampson, Ashley Macisaac, Wendy Macisaac, and Mairi Rankin in impromptu jam.

Aug. 26, 2008 - Legend of the Psycho Forest Ranger

Yesterday a hybrid crew from Cape Breton and Montreal wrapped a feature film “The Legend of the Psycho Forest Ranger” here in Cape Breton.  We were lucky enough to get out to watch it go down a few nights on set and even helped with a car explosion scene…almost burned the set down but everything came out peachy in the end. Congratulations to them can’t wait to see the final product!

Aug. 14, 2008 - Location Wanted for Carmen

Hi again, we are looking for a location for our upcoming music video shoot with Carmen Townsend.  If we can rent the entire house for the week and stay there while we shoot that would be a bonus.  Also if you have anything close to what is described in this poster please don’t hesitate to contact us to see if your location could work.

July 9, 2008 - Casting Call for Carmen

We are casting for a Carmen Townsend music video to be shot the last two weeks of August. The following are some roles we are looking to fill.

**Escaped Prisoner - a 25-35 year-old male with a medium build to play a main part as an escaped convict. This character will have short hair and some stubble, so please try and send appropriate head shots. Acting experience required.

**Male Prison Guard - a 25-40 year-old male with a medium to large build to play a key part as a prison guard. Acting experience required.

**Female Prison Guard - a 25-35 year-old female with an athletic build to play a significant role as a prison guard. Acting experience is a plus.

**Police Officers - males aged 25-40 to play small parts as police officers. Actual police officers encouraged apply. Acting experience is a plus

June 17, 2008 - CBFA host Guerilla Film Weekend

On June 7th and 8th 2008 the Cape Breton Filmmakers Association hosted its first Guerilla Film Weekend. This is a two day filmmaking event that provided four teams of five or six the opportunity to write, shoot, edit and screen their own short film. Check it out i think its safe to say everyone had a blast.

June 03, 2008 - Coastal Arts Initiative Event

The Coastal Arts Initiative would like to present Adapted: An Exhibition About Modern Life.

Featuring upwards of 20 young, and talented artists, from the industrial Cape Breton area, Adapted aims to confront feelings and thoughts about modern life through art.

Some participating artists have chosen subjects like eating disorders, genetically modified foods, garbage, and morality to fuel their creativity and make their pieces of art.

Adapted will be opening to the public Friday, June 6th @ 7pm. Come out, see the latest art happening coming from Cape Breton island and mingle with art lovers and artists.

May 28, 2008 - Celebrating Success

Congratulations to Shot on Site’s employee of the decade, Ashley McKenzie on winning an award at this years Women in Business Conference.  The Cape Breton Partnership, in conjunction with Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation, will host a women in business conference and awards dinner at the beautiful Inverary Inn Resort in Baddeck on May 29 and 30, 2008. Entitled, ‘Women in Business – Celebrating Success, the event will educate, motivate and celebrate current women in business as well as those thinking about launching a business.Ashley won the Focus to the Future Award which is presented to a young woman under 25 who has shown outstanding promise or dedication to the pursuit of excellence in her chosen career or entrepreneurial endeavor.
